Help & FAQ
Answers about privacy, scanning, deleting and purchases.
Privacy
Does GalleryGo upload my photos to the cloud?
No. GalleryGo analyzes photos and videos on your iPhone with Apple’s Vision framework. Images, thumbnails, file names and exact location coordinates never reach our servers. To name places, only the centers of areas about 11 km wide are looked up with Apple’s geocoding service, like in the Photos app.
What does AI search send to the server?
The text of your request, the names of subjects and places found in your library (for example “beach”, “Istanbul, Turkey”) and, to pick matching photos, a description of each candidate computed on the device: numbers such as sharpness, size and age, content labels and text recognized in the photo (up to 2,000 characters). Never the images themselves. The request is processed by AI providers acting on our behalf (OpenAI and TypeSafe).
We don’t store request texts or these descriptions. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Why do I sign in with Apple?
Your balance of deletions is kept in your account, so it survives reinstalling the app or moving to a new iPhone. We don’t request your name or email.
Scanning
How do I delete duplicate photos on iPhone?
Scan your library with GalleryGo. It groups exact copies, re-saved and resized versions of the same picture, bursts and near-identical shots taken moments apart. In each group the best shot — the sharpest, best-looking one, with faces in focus — stays; the rest go to Duplicates, where you pick what to delete. The Duplicates album in Photos (iOS 16 and later) finds only exact copies. Duplicate videos are found the same way — by frames from the video and its length; the best copy stays: full resolution and full length.
How can I free up iPhone storage without losing photos?
Besides clearing blurry shots, screenshots and duplicates, GalleryGo can shrink files and keep the moment: it compresses large videos to 1080p HEVC, usually much smaller, and turns Live Photos into still photos by dropping their video part. JPEG and PNG photos can be re-saved as HEIC with no visible loss of quality — usually two to three times lighter. The new copies keep the date, location, favorites and albums; the originals stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Each processed file uses one deletion from your balance, like a deleted one.
How long does the first scan take?
Usually a few minutes; libraries with tens of thousands of photos take longer. You can stop at any time — what’s already found is shown right away, and the scan continues next time you open the app. New photos are checked automatically.
What about photos stored only in iCloud?
GalleryGo never downloads your library from iCloud. With “Optimize iPhone Storage” on, photos are checked by the version kept on the iPhone, so some of them may be skipped by certain checks. Videos whose size isn’t known on the device don’t appear in “Big videos”.
Will my favorites be deleted?
No. Photos marked as favorites are never suggested for deletion — neither in categories nor in AI search results.
Can I give access to only some photos?
Yes. GalleryGo works with the photos you selected and suggests allowing full access, because duplicates and screenshots among the rest can’t be found otherwise. You can change the selection or allow full access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Deleting
How does GalleryGo decide what to delete?
It never deletes on its own. On your iPhone, GalleryGo checks each photo — sharpness, overall quality, faces, text, screenshots — and finds duplicate photos and videos by comparing image fingerprints. It then suggests categories such as Blurry, Screenshots and Duplicates. Favorites are never suggested. You choose what to remove, and iOS asks you to confirm before anything is deleted.
Can I recover photos deleted by mistake?
Yes. Open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted. Deleted items stay there for 30 days and can be restored. GalleryGo never deletes anything past that album.
Are photos deleted from iCloud too?
If iCloud Photos is on, yes — deletion syncs to all your devices, exactly as when you delete in the Photos app. Items can be restored from Recently Deleted for 30 days.
Why does deleting need an internet connection?
Before iOS changes your library (deletes, compresses or converts files), the number of files is set aside on your balance on our server, and whatever isn’t processed is returned right away. This keeps your balance correct across devices and never lets it go below zero. Scanning and browsing work without a connection.
Purchases
Is GalleryGo free?
Scanning, reviewing results and AI search are free. Deleting, compressing and converting use your balance: buy a one-time pack in the App Store, and each processed file uses one deletion. Unused deletions don’t expire, and there is no subscription.
I paid, but the deletions didn’t arrive
Open GalleryGo again with the internet on — an unfinished purchase is delivered on the next launch. If it still hasn’t arrived, write to us at support@gallerygo.com and attach the receipt from Apple.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a purchase is refunded, up to the number of deletions it added is removed from your balance; it never goes below zero.
I have a new iPhone. Is my balance lost?
No. Sign in with the same Apple ID — the balance belongs to your account, not to the device.
Account
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Delete account. Your account, balance and usage records are deleted and Sign in with Apple is revoked. We keep only an anonymous record of App Store transactions so that a purchase can’t be credited twice. Your photos are not affected. An unused balance is lost.
